In person award ceremonies are back and the American Cinema Editors guild did something different this time around. Instead of a dinner, this year’s ACE Guild Awards took place at the historic Ace Hotel Theater in downtown Los Angeles. And the rowdy crowd let it be known on numerous occasions they are not happy with Editing Oscar no longer being handed out on the live telecast. In a surprise, Pamela Martin took the Feature Film Drama category for “King Richard.”

““tick, tick…Boom!” won the Feature Film Comedy category. “Summer of Soul” took the Documentary Film (Theatrical) honor. “Encanto” took the Animated Feature prize.
“Succession” won the Drama Series category while “Hacks” and “Kevin Can F k Himself” won the comedy series awards. “Mare of Easttown” took the Limited Series award.
Debbie Allen awarded Lillian E. Benson, who received two standing ovations, a career achievement honor. Emilio Estevez introduced another career achievement winner and longtime collaborator, the legendary Richard Chew. Chloe Zhao presented an achievement award to the Sundance Institute which was accepted by Michelle Satter.
