Got a Tip?

Kristen Stewart Takes ‘Anesthesia,’ Christopher Walken & Lenny Kravitz Team Are Father & Son In ‘Little Rootie Tootie’ & More

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart continues to line up her post-“Twilight” schedule with interesting gigs. Having already wrapped the Guantanamo Bay drama “Camp X-Ray” and Olivier Assayas‘ “Sils Maria,” she’ll next tackle the indie “Anesthesia.” The actress has booked a small role in Tim Blake Nelson‘s film “about a group of New Yorkers whose lives are touched by the same philosophy professor.” Production is now underway in New York City. You might have forgotten but earlier this yearRobert De Niro and Edgar Ramirez signed up for the boxing flicks “Hands Of Stone,” telling the story of legendary Panamanian boxer Roberto Duran. Now Ellen Barkin is getting in the ring playing “the wife of Duran’s trainer Ray Arcel, whom De Niro plays.” R&B star Usher, Ryan Kwanten and Michelle Rodriguez round out the cast of Venezuelan helmer Jonathan Jakubowicz‘s film. Here’s your unlikely pairing of the day: Christopher Walken and Lenny Kravitz. The duo will star in “Little Rootie Tootie,” the next effort from writer/director Dan Algrant (“Greetings From Tim Buckley“). The film will follow “a veteran jazz pianist (Walken) who is mourning the death of his wife. His son (Kravitz), returns home with his own wife, disrupting the couple’s careers as musicians in Europe to deal with the brilliant Sonny as his behavior becomes manic and destructive. The trio tries to present the illusion of a functioning family, as the eccentricities inherent in being working musicians leads them tumbling toward a tragic but impactful conclusion.” Walken as an eccentric jazz pianist? Yes, please. The project will be shopped at AFM and production begins in January (change the title though guys). [Deadline]

Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale and Nick Kroll are all people we like, along with Mark and Jay Duplass, so you better believe we’re going to watch “Brother’s Keeper.” The Duplass produced comedy will be directed by Ross Katz (“Taking Chance“) and it follows “a young, narcissistic entrepreneur who crashes and burns on the eve of his company’s launch. He leaves Manhattan to move in with his estranged, pregnant sister and his brother-in-law (Byrne and Cannavale) and his 3-year-old nephew, only to end up becoming their nanny.” Production starts in January. [THR]

Lastly, ever-busy Canadian filmmaker Bruce McDonald returns to the horror genre with “Hellions.” Starring Chloe RoseRachel WilsonLuke Bilyk and Rossif Sutherland, the film will follow “a pregnant teen faced with a Halloween night from hell.” Filming is underway. [THR]
