Oscar producers may get their wish as some of the biggest music stars in the world are still eligible for the Best Original Song Oscar. Lady Gaga, The Weekend, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and Rihanna all saw their songs make the cut. In a major surprise, last year’s winners, Billie Eilish and Finneas did not move forward with their original song from “Turning Red.”

And yes, you can’t stop her, Diane Warren is once again in the mix for her song from “Tell It Like A Woman,” “Applause.” Warren earned a lifetime achievement Oscar at the Governors Awards just last month. Rita Wilson, a producer on “A Man Called Otto,” is also in the mix for co-writing “Til You’re Home.” Former winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul made the cut with “Good Afternoon” from the AppleTV+ holiday film “Spirited.”
Other original song snubs included “Keep Rising” from “The Woman King,” “You Made It Feel Like Home” from “Bones and All,” and Harry Styles’ “With You All The Time” from “Don’t Worry Darling.”
On the original score side, “Empire of Light,” “The Northman,” “The Batman,” and “Bones and All” were among the notable omissions.
