'Last Night In Soho' Music Video: Anya Taylor-Joy Sings A Cover Of 'Downtown' For Edgar Wright's Thriller

It’s never healthy to be a jealous person. (I think “Ted Lasso” recently taught me that. Good show, by the way, people should actually watch it!) But there’s something unfair about an actress like Anya Taylor-Joy being really damn good at her on-screen craft, but then she’s also apparently a lovely singer. It makes normal folks like myself feel like complete underachievers. But I digress.

As seen in the new music video for “Downtown,” a song featured in the upcoming film, “Last Night in Soho” from filmmaker Edgar Wright, Anya Taylor-Joy shows off her vocal chops as she performs a downtempo version of the classic. The video is pretty lowkey, offering clips of the films juxtaposed with footage of Taylor-Joy singing in a studio. But if you’re excited about ‘Soho’ and need even more content to hype you up, this music video will help.

The cast for the film includes Taylor-Joy alongside Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, Matt Smith, Terence Stamp, Diana Rigg, Rita Tushingham, Michael Ajao, and Synnøve Karlsen. The film is co-written (with Krysty Wilson-Cairns) and directed by Edgar Wright, who clearly has an affinity for picking music for his features. Obviously, ‘Last Night’ isn’t as musical as “Baby Driver,” but the film does include quite a bit of music. And in addition, Wright recently released a 60-song playlist to accompany his new psychological thriller.

“Last Night in Soho” arrives in theaters on October 29. You can watch the music video below.

Here’s the synopsis:

But the glamour is not all it appears to be and the dreams of the past start to crack and splinter into something far darker.
