Frankly, we’ve kind of been ignoring the plethora of “what-robot-will-appear” reports for “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” mostly because it’s so fucking boring and it doesn’t really matter when 90% of the people going to watch this thing will be there to see Michael Bay blow up some shit real good, not find out if Bumblebee’s story arc will be completed.
But we know inspired casting when we see it, and with EW reporting that Leonard Nimoy will be voicing Sentinel Prime in the film (aka that robot you see in the film’s teaser), it gets a firm thumbs up from us. So, how did Bay land Nimoy for the gig? Well he’s married to his cousin Susan Bay so that worked itself out pretty nicely. Nimoy is no stranger to the franchise either, having voiced Galvatron in the 1986 animated film.
With everyone involved acknowledging that “Transformers 2” was absolutely terrible, the stakes are high on this third installment that has Bay and his team promising will be much, much better (though we can’t see how it could really get much worse). Starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Alan Tudyk, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey and John Malkovich, the talent is certainly there, though whether or not they’ll do anything more than yell “OMG, Look out!” remains to be seen.
