Liam Neeson and director Jaume Collet-Serra seem to be developing a B-movie version of the Martin Scorsese/Robert De Niro relationship. Ever since Neeson refashioned himself as an action star, Collet-Serra has seemed to frequent in his plans, helming obviously titled movies "Unknown" (Neeson is an amnesiac who punches people), the forthcoming "Non-Stop" (Neeson is an air marshal on an international flight who punches people) and now "Run All Night."
Deadline reports that Neeson is in negotiations to star in the Collet-Serra film that will undoubtedly involve more punching. Penned by Brad Ingelsby (the upcoming "Out Of The Furnace" with Christian Bale and Casey Affleck), this time around Neeson will play a mob hitman who has to take on his boss, protect his family and go on the run from the authorities with his estranged son, all in a single night. Obviously. Neeson is quickly becoming the Kevin James of action stars, where the movies are basically the same except for the job description of his character.
No word yet on when this will shoot, but since the shitacular "Taken 2" turned out to be a big hit, we'd wager Warner Bros, will be eager to get this going. And given they want to re-up the the Collet-Serra/Neeson relationship, the studio must be feeling pretty good about "Non-Stop." So, good news today for those who like to be fed the same mindless crap over and over again.
