While it isn’t yet recognized by the American Medical Association, Jason Statham Syndrome is a unique condition that in which sufferers of the rare disease are suddenly prone to running over rooftops, driving recklessly and shaving their head all in the belief that they are suddenly living in a Jason Statham movie. The affliction comes about from exposure to too many Jason Statham movies in a short period of time, and the folks over at Lionsgate have wisely decided to move the action star’s next effort (no, not “Killer Elite“), the action pic “Safe” to 2012.

It has been a very busy year for The Stafe, with “The Mechanic” arriving in January, “Blitz” going to DVD in August and in a couple weeks, “Killer Elite” landing in theaters. Frankly, all those movies are beginning to blend in our mind, so it’s not too surprising that Lionsgate figured that October 28th might be too soon for “Safe,” opting now to release it on March 2, 2012. Directed by Boaz Yakin, Statham portrays a former elite operative who must protect an adolescent girl (Catherine Chan) from the bad guys. So yeah, nothing new there. The date will find the film squaring off against “Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters,” the no-budget comedy “Project X” and “Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax,” giving another option for filmgoers that weekend.

As for “Killer Elite,” the film, co-starring Clive Owen and Robert De Niro marches toward its TIFF premiere next week and theatrical bow on September 23rd. Here are two more clips from the film that are spectacularly routine (and oh yeah, that’s another picture from “Safe”). [Variety/Yahoo]
