Next summer, Anna Kendrick gets back in front of the mic for "Pitch Perfect 2," but if you want to hear her pitch perfect pipes before then, Disney‘s "Into The Woods" will have you covered. And you can get an earful with this latest listen and look from the film.
A newly released clip from Rob Marshall‘s upcoming effort gives us a glimpse at Kendrick’s rendition of "On the Steps of the Palace." At the stroke of midnight, Cinderella (Kendrick) runs from her prince charming (Chris Pine) and down the steps of the palace where her shoe gets stuck. Then time stands still (with the prince frozen in the background) as she evaluates her situation via song. Is ending up with the prince really going to be a happy ending for her?
The scene is reminiscent of Marshall’s “Chicago” in which many of the musical numbers took place within the protagonist’s fantasies. Steven Sondheim is also featured in the clip and describes that many of the songs are meant to stop the action and put you in the character’s headspace.
Check it out below, along with a featurette and full listen to the song. "Into The Woods" opens on Christmas Day.
