Got a Tip?

Look: Minimalist, ’70s-Style Teaser Poster For Andrew Dominik’s ‘Killing Them Softly’

nullWe're about midway through Cannes as of today, and some big, high-profile titles have rolled out: "Lawless," "Rust & Bone" and "Moonrise Kingdom" among them. But there's plenty more major movies still to debut in competition, including "On The Road," "Cosmopolis," "Mud" and early tomorrow morning, Andrew Dominik's "Killing Them Softly," the Australian director's first film since the outstanding "The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford" in 2007.

This time, he's retained star Brad Pitt, but gone for a more contemporary setting, with a politically-charged crime flick based on the novel "Cogan's Trade," with a cast that also includes James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn and Richard Jenkins, among others. We've already seen a clip from the film, involving Liotta's character being roughed up by Sam Shepard and rapper Slaine (which director Dominik was unaware had been put online, according to USA Today, and the director hinted that "the worst is yet to come for Ray.") And now we get a nifty teaser poster, courtesy of Moviefone.

It's got a classic, minimalist feel, reminiscent of poster artwork from the 70s, and while it's likely only a sales poster, we'd love it if the Weinstein Company ended up using this as their main promotional image. Check the poster out below, and stay tuned for our verdict on "Killing Them Softly" tomorrow morning.
