Lou Ferrigno Claims Solo ‘Hulk’ Movie To Follow ‘Avengers 2’; Andy Serkis Helping With Mo-Cap On ‘Ultron’

Despite the successful run on TV screens in the late ’70s and early ’80s, the Hulk has proven to be a tough sell on the big screen, with no less than three actors playing Bruce Banner in less than a decade and Marvel itself at the helm of the last two iterations. While last spring came word from the lastest Banner himself, Mark Ruffalo, that there were “no plans for a stand alone,” leave it to the most iconic Hulk of them all to start the rumor mill anew.

During an interview for a radio station in Minnesota (via Latino-Review), Lou Ferrigno revealed that there are indeed plans for a stand alone Hulk adventure, saying “Now because [Hulk] saved the day [in the first ‘Avengers’] they’re making another solo Hulk movie after the second Avengers comes out.” Although Ferrigno seems awfully sure he has the legit scoop, we’re going to take it with a grain of salt since he’s said this kind of thing before, and the odds of the comics giant-turned-movie studio keeping an aging TV star abreast of their movies in development seem fairly slim.

In more concrete and exciting Hulk news, Screenrant reports none other than Andy Serkis, king of all things mo-cap, has joined the “Avengers: Age Of Ultron” team to help Ruffalo in portraying that great big green monster. In a response to a fan’s question on twitter about the status of the ‘Avengers’ sequel, Ruffalo tweeted “Well, I have been working with the great @andyserkis on the big green boy and he is going to be even better then A1.” It’s unclear what the full extent of Serkis’ involvment is – is he just coaching Ruffalo or will he don the tight suit? – but seeing how he’s the best, bar-none, at motion-captured performace, there’s no downside to this news, as Serkis adds another big genre franchise to his CV. That’s right folks, he started in Middle Earth, played a pair of complex primates, moved on to a galaxy far, far away, and now he’s landed in the Mavel Cinematic Universe; the kingdom of Serkis knows no bounds.
