Is it mad libs, or is it just your typical wtf Playlist headline? But no, really, the idea behind Sony’s new romantic comedy “Love Again” is pretty incredible on many levels. For one, the plot: could a random text message lead to the love of your life? That’s the premise of “Love Again,” but the micro view is that the story is also about a journalist—“Outlander” star Sam Heughan who is seen as a heartthrob by many ladies—who ends up enlisting Celine Dion (yes, the real Celine Dion, playing herself for the first time ever) to find out the identity of a woman (Priyanka Chopra) sending texts to her dead fiancé. It does feel like a mad-lib plot and story and cast, no?

Here’s the official synopsis:
What if a random text message led to the love of your life? In this romantic comedy, dealing with the loss of her fiancé, Mira Ray sends a series of romantic texts to his old cell phone number…not realizing the number was reassigned to Rob Burns’ new work phone. A journalist, Rob is captivated by the honesty in the beautifully confessional texts. When he’s assigned to write a profile of megastar Celine Dion (playing herself in her first film role), he enlists her help in figuring out how to meet Mira in person…and win her heart. Starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sam Heughan, and Celine Dion and featuring multiple new songs from Dion, Love Again, written for the screen and directed by Jim Strouse, is only in theaters May 5, 2023.
Written and directed by Jim Strouse(“Grace Is Gone,” “The Winning Season,” “The Incredible Jessica James”), the film is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Esther Hornstein, and executive producers include Doug Belgrad, and Sophie Cassidy, Louise Killin, Jonathan Furhman, and Celine Dion.
The cast is just the simple trio of Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sam Heughan, and Celine Dion herself. With “Outlander” coming to an end, one has to wonder if Heughan is looking to break out in Hollywood the same way his co-star Caitriona Balfe has. Regardless, “Love Again” hits theaters May 5, 2023, via Sony Pictures. Check out the final trailer below.
