Remember when M. Night Shyamalan movies used to be an event? Well, after a long period of diminishing returns, it has been quite some time since the filmmaker stirred up that kind of fervor. But, Universal is hoping that by keeping his next movie sorta secret, it can build up some anticipation, and today they set a September 11, 2015 release date for—wait for it—"The Visit" (oooooooh).
So what’s it about? Well, it tells the terrifying story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home grow smaller every day.
We’re pretty sure this is the same movie that was previously announced as "Sundowning" earlier this year, with Kathryn Hahn and child actor Ed Oxenbould in the lead roles. But at this point, Shyamalan is going to really have to bring the noise to get our attention.
Meanwhile, the Jessica Chastain and Colin Farrell starring "Miss Julie" will open in New York City on December 5th. Directed by Liv Ullman, this is an adaptation of the famed August Strindberg play. Here’s the official synopsis:
