‘Maestro’ Trailer:  Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein Romantic Epic Premieres In Venice, Opens Theatrically In November

Can a relationship be art? “Maestro” offers a bold look at the complicated and compelling story of Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein; the new film delves into the legendary conductor’s life, focusing on his unique connection to Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. Through it all, they found a way to support one another in a world judgemental of anything that didn’t fit the period’s societal norms. This long-anticipated film hails from director and co-writer Bradley Cooper; the project acts as a follow-up to his critically acclaimed directorial debut, “A Star Is Born.” Cooper — known for his performances in a host of hit films — more than proved himself with that deeply personal and heartbreaking portrait of a music legend on the decline.

For “Maestro,” Cooper once again takes on acting duties as the complex musical genius who brought to life artistic triumphs like “West Side Story” and “Candide.” He finds an equally talented presence with Carey Mulligan taking on the role of Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. The actress drew raves for her performance in the film “She Said,” portraying New York Times investigative reporter Megan TwoheyMatt BomerMaya Hawke, Sarah SilvermanJosh HamiltonScott EllisGideon GlickSam NivolaAlexa Swinton, and Miriam Shor round out the excellent cast. 

The film’s official synopsis:

“Maestro is a towering and fearless love story chronicling the lifelong relationship between Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. A love letter to life and art, “Maestro” at its core is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.”

A relationship is art in the upcoming film “Maestro.” The project is set to premiere in select theaters on November 22, and arrives on Netflix a month later on December 20. Before that, “Maestro” will receive its world premiere at the 2023 Venice Film Festival in competition to boot. Get your first look at the film’s trailer below.
