The Safdie Brothers are not afraid of using unusual actors in their casts. And for Josh Safdie, that is still the case, as we learn more of the names being added to the cast of his upcoming film, “Marty Supreme.”

According to Variety, Odessa A’zion, Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary, and Abel Ferrara are joining a cast that already includes Tyler, the Creator, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Timothée Chalamet. Now, some of those names make sense. A’zion is an experienced actress, as is Chalamet and Paltrow. However, Jillette is a magician, O’Leary is a personality who appears on “Shark Tank,” Tyler, the Creator is a rapper with no acting experience, and Ferrara is an iconic filmmaker.
Now, we can understand Ferrara, as the filmmaker has often appeared in his own films. He even was part of the Safdie Brothers’ earlier film, “Daddy Longlegs.” But what about the others? They are definitely an eclectic mix of folks. You have to wonder just how many scenes folks like Tyler, the Creator, Kevin O’Leary, and Penn Jillette will actually show up in.
Not much is really known about “Marty Supreme” at this point. The only hint we got about the film is an A24 teaser image which showed a ping pong ball and a paddle, leading us to believe this film features table tennis in some way.
We also don’t have a release date yet for “Marty Supreme,” but a 2025 release seems like a logical guess.
