'Mayans MC' Trailer: New Spin-Off Explores The Post-Jax Teller World Of 'Sons Of Anarchy'

Sons of Anarchy” might not have been the best TV show around when it was on FX. Sure, it had soap opera elements, over-the-top acting, and an overall pulpy tone. However, over the show’s seven seasons, ‘Sons’ developed a rabid, cult following. And creator Kurt Sutter is hoping these faithful join him for the spin-off “Mayans MC.”

In the first trailer for the ‘Sons’ spin-off, we meet a new prospect, who is just entering the MC lifestyle. He decides to join up with the Mayans, a rough group of motorcycle enthusiasts who happen to dabble in the criminal underworld of drugs and guns. And as we see in the footage, once you’re in the life, you’re all in.

For fans of ‘Sons,’ there’s a lot to like in this trailer. The same style that made the show a hit is clearly present in “Mayans MC.” There’s the action, the loud music, the gratuitous male nudity, and a little bit of humor thrown in for good measure. Oh and replacing the incredible Katey Sagal and Ron Perlman as the elder acting anchor is veteran Edward James Olmos doing his Edward James Olmos thing.

FX is banking a lot on “Mayans MC.” Ever since ‘Sons’ left the air back in 2014, they’ve been desperately looking for a similar show to replace it, with no luck. Now, they’re just repackaging what worked before and starting fresh. We’ll have to see if it all works out or if “Mayans MC” is destined to ride off into the sunset…err semi-truck…like Jax Teller.

“Mayans MC” hits FX on September 4.

Here’s the official synopsis:
