We’ve said it once before; we’ll say it again. Taylor Sheridan, the creator of ViacomCBS‘ hit series “Yellowstone,” has become the Martin Scorsese of Paramount+. Meaning? Sheridan essentially has carte blanche to do what he wants there now that “Yellowstone” is a massive hit. Known for writing “Sicario” and “Hell or High Water,” before he made his directorial debut with “Wind River,” Sheridan makes muscular stories about hardened men in the heartland counties, towns, and states of the U.S. He’s already made some big deals with Paramount+ for a bevy of shows, including a “Yellowstone” prequel, but coming up next for the auteur is “Mayor Of Kingstown,” which reunites him with his “Wind River” star Jeremy Renner.

Today, during Paramount+’s Television Critics Association virtual presentation, the streaming service released the first look trailer from this original new series. Co-created by Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, the 10-episode season will premiere on Sunday, Nov. 14. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, the all-star cast includes the aforementioned Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner, Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest, Emmy Award winner Kyle Chandler, Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, and Tobi Bamtefa. Here’s the official synopsis, but essentially it’s about crime, the prison industrial complex, and the corruption that surrounds it.

MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN follows the McLusky family – power brokers in Kingstown, Mich., where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.

As part of Sheridan’s deal with MTV Entertainment and ViacomCBS, MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN and 1883 – the YELLOWSTONE origin story premiering on Paramount+ Dec. 19 – are the first from his exclusive multi-year pact, which includes scripted and procedural series for streaming and linear. 101 Studios serves as a production partner on all series. “Mayor of Kingstown” begins streaming on November 14.
