Got a Tip?

Michael B. Jordan Would Work With ‘Creed III’ Co-Star Jonathan Majors Again: “I’m Proud Of His Resilence”

Jonathan Majors made headlines when he was taken to court to answer charges of partner violence which he ended up being found guilty of assaulting and harassing his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Landing probation during his sentencing last April instead of serving any serious jail time. A bunch of people in his orbit distanced themselves and his high-profile firing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Marvel/Disney certainly signaled a downfall of sorts with top studios. Then again, Majors has one person in his corner, and that is his “Creed III” director/co-star Michael B. Jordan.

The actor/filmmaker is gearing up for a reunion with Ryan Coogler for the period vampire thriller “Sinners” and recently spoke with GQ Magazine where the topic of Majors was brought up. And by the sounds of things, Jordan isn’t too concerned about working with Majors in the future and is “proud” of how the actor dealt with his legal troubles.

“But he’s doing great, just got engaged,” Jordan said of Majors while speaking with GQ. “I’m proud of his resilience and his strength through it all, and [his] handling [of] it. I’m glad he’s good. That’s my boy.” It’s not just kind words either. When the outlet asked if he would be willing to work with Majors in the future, Jordan answered: “Yes. Yes.”

That relationship seems strong, good for them, I guess.

However, going out of your way to defend someone who gets psychical with romantic partners (other allegations were also lobbed at Majors during this time as an attempt to establish a pattern of abuse/anger issues), is bad optics for sure. But also, if your only image of a person is just your time with them that could play into his comments and perspective here, too (playing Devil’s advocate). Majors getting his life together is important but taking personal responsibility is a missing element from this becoming a true redemption story.

Although, I’m sure many women (men as well), a good amount of folks that make up Jordan’s audience, and advocacy groups won’t see it as a casual blip in Major’s life to overcome and might question him further on his thoughts on Major’s actions and that trial.

What this actually means for their working relationship moving forward remains to be seen. I personally don’t know if Amazon MGM Studios is going to be thrilled if Jordan tries to cast Majors in “Creed IV,” or other things in development, but stranger things have happened.
