With production on the film underway, we got our first official look at star Jaafar Jackson as the lead in “Michael.” No, the last name is no coincidence. Jaafar Jackson is Michael Jackson’s nephew and definitely shares the family resemblance. It’s clear why, at least when you see the picture, he was chosen for the role.
“We have assembled an incredible team of artists for this project – hair & makeup, costumes, cinematography, choreography, lighting, everything – and some who knew and worked with Michael are reuniting for this film. But most importantly, it’s Jaafar who embodies Michael,” said Fuqua. “It goes beyond the physical resemblance. It’s Michael’s spirit that comes through in a magical way. You have to experience it to believe it.”
“Michael” is directed by Fuqua, based on a script by John Logan. The film is produced by Graham King, who previously worked on films such as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “The Departed,” and “The Aviator.” And yes, this film is being made with the cooperation of the Jackson family. So, take from that what you will.
“Michael” is expected to arrive in theaters on April 18, 2025. You can see the first-look photo below.
