Michael K. Williams Joins Spike Lee’s Kickstarter Joint Now Titled ‘Da Blood Of Jesus’

The Kickstarter campaign is over, and Spike Lee now has a little over $1.4 million dollars to make his next movie. Details are still being played close to the vest, but Lee is starting to assemble his cast, and is bringing an old pal back into the 40 Acres And A Mule fold.

Michael K. Williams has reteamed with Lee for the movie, and the director has nothing but huge praise for the actor. “My Main Man Brooklyn’s Finest, Michael K. Williams Has Joined The Cast Of My Newest Hottest Joint. Who Can Forget The Wailing Warning Of “Omar’s Comin’!!! Omar’s Comin’!!!”? Michael Killed It. I Feel That His Portrayal, His Complexity And His Humanity Of Omar Will Go Down As One Of The Greatest Characters Cable TV Has Seen,” Lee posted to his Kickstarter page, once again showing his preference for capital letters.

Williams previously worked with Lee on “Miracle At St. Anna,” and also had a role in the Lee-produced horror, “You’re Nobody Til Somebody Kills You.” Of course, what his part will be in Lee’s still untitled movie about addiction, blood, and sex is unknown, but we’d watch almost anything with Williams. The actor joins the previously announced Zaraah Abrahams and recently unveiled Stephen Tyrone Williams. Also, according to the latter, as revealed on his web page, Lee’s new movie has a title: “Da Blood Of Jesus.” And we’re sure that will get folks talking.
