Got a Tip?

Milla Jovovich, Marcia Cross & Bill Pullman To Star In Famke Jannsen’s Directorial Debut, ‘Bringing Up Bobby’

Some slightly old news from last week that we still felt was worth its own story.

Model and actress Famke Jannsen continues to expand her multi-hyphenate career by adding the title of director to her resumé.

Milla Jovovich, Marcia Cross and Bill Pullman will star in Jannsen’s directorial debut “Bringing Up Bobby” which doesn’t sound unlike Peter Bogdanovich’s “Paper Moon” only this time it’s about “a European con artist and her 10-year-old son who find themselves in Oklahoma in an effort to escape her past and build a better future. The duo blithely charm their way from one adventure to another until the mother’s criminal past catches up with her.”

Shooting on the film will begin next week. And speaking of Jovovich, she recently hit Twitter and posted a bunch of links to photos of her costume for the upcomingThree Musketeers.” Also? She likes post-rockers Slint. It’s interesting to see her take on this gig, the trailer for “Resident Evil: Afterlife” is so awful it’s enough to induce suicide inside a theater.

Jannsen also wrote the screenplay and is producing the film as well. We wonder if working with fellow actor Chris Eigeman on his directorial debut/passion project, the low-budgeted, “Turn the River” rubbed off on or inspired her. Aside from appearing on “Nip/Tuck,” Jannsen has kept a relatively low acting profile of late and we assume writing, “Bringing Up Bobby” is the reason why.
