Earlier this year, Milla Jovovich closed the door on her long-running “Resident Evil” franchise (which, of course, is being inevitably rebooted) and looked ahead to what’s next. Well, it hasn’t taken the actress very long to find another tentpole for her talents, only this time, she won’t be the hero.
Deadline reports that Jovovich is in final talks for “Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen.” Directed by Neil Marshall, and starring David Harbour in the title role, this will be an R-rated take on the character that’s going to be a bit more gritty than Guillermo del Toro’s beloved efforts. Jovovich is playing the title villain The Blood Queen, with Ian McShane also on board as Professor Broom. Say what you will about this reboot, but the casting is pretty solid.
Aron Coleite (“Heroes,” “Star Trek: Discovery”) is currently doing a rewrite on the script, and it looks like cameras will be rolling soon on the Millennium Films and Lionsgate production. Could the new ‘Hellboy’ movie open as early as next year? Sure seems like it. [Deadline]
