Monday Blah ShortCuts, 'High School Musical,' 'Che,' Todd Haynes, Fake 'Inglourious' Posters, Leo DiCaprio, More...

Monday morning and we’re having a lot of serious trouble finding the interest to blog about anything in full.

To no one’s surprise we’re sure, “High School Musical 3” topped the box-office this weekend with a $42 million cume. The insipid horror franchise, “Saw V” came in second with $30.5 million. The only newly released film to make a dent in the box-office was “Pride and Glory,” which came in at number 5 with $6.3 million. [Reuters]

A bunch of critics in L.A. were supposed to see a screening of “Che” in Los Angeles, but the projector didn’t know how to put on the English subtitles and everyone left. Can this film ever catch a break? [Anne Thompson]

New international “Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince” trailer. Whatever. [Trailer Addict].

More fake posters for “Inglourious Basterds,” Quentin Tarantino’s WWII film currently shooting in Germany. The photoshop on these are sooo bad. [NukeTheFridge]

A Special Edition version of the “The Dark Knight” soundtrack will be released by Warner Bros. on December 9th. This fancy new over-priced edition, doesn’t contain much in way of new tracks by composers Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, just four bonus remix tracks, but for the ‘TDK’ die-hards it does contain a 8×8×40 page hardbound book. Indie filmmakers Richard Linklater and Todd Haynes will appear at the film festival portion of the SXSW musical festival. The two directors will discuss their recent work, “I’m Not There” and “Me and Orson Welles,” respectively (the latter of which is still not out yet). German producer Jan Harlan will discuss working with his brother-in-law, Stanley Kubrick, on such films as “Barry Lyndon,” “The Shining” and “Eyes Wide Shut.” [Variety]

Leonardo DiCaprio apparently likes anime. His production company acquired the rights to a live-action version of “Akira” earlier this year, and now the same shingle has nabbed the rights to a live-action version of 1993 anime cartoon “Ninja Scroll.” Alex Tse who co-wrote “Watchmen” is the scribe, but we’re mostly, eh. French actor, Jean Reno, mostly known for dramas or action films (he was the loving hitman in “The Professional”), has signed on to play the couples therapist in the Jon Favreau/Vince Vaughn relationship comedy, “Couples Retreat,” which also stars Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell. [Variety]
