'Moon Garden' Trailer: A Unique Fantasy Turned Horror Odyssey Coming This Spring Via Oscilloscope [Exclusive]

Founded in 2014, FilmQuest Film Festival is known for highlighting and celebrating the majesty of genre filmmaking in the realms of fantasy, horror, and sci-fi. Highlighted at the 2022 FilmQuest Festival was Ryan Stevens Harris’ fantasy “Moon Garden.”

Harris, who is known best for his editing work on “Moonfall,” directed, edited, and wrote “Moon Garden.” The film stars Haven Lee Harris as a five-year-old girl who slips into a coma after a terrible accident at home and then has to journey through an industrial dream world to find her way back to consciousness. The trailer, which starts off in what seems a positive ambient way, quickly turns into the audience’s and the young girl’s nightmare as she is haunted by a nightmarish specter that feeds off of her tears.

Harris filmed “Moon Garden” on expired 35mm film stock with vintage rehoused lenses to create a unique odyssey. This was a perfect choice for such a unique fantasy film, as shooting on expired film can lead to a bit of a foggy look, more grain, increasing color shifts, more contrast, and less sensitivity.

The film was picked up by Oscilloscope Laboratories in November. When the announcement was made, Harris stated in an article for Screen Daily, “We knew we needed a partner who embraced all the film’s aspects and would put as much care into its release as we did into production. Oscilloscope is the perfect partner, and we couldn’t be happier.”

Alongside the bright young Haven Lee Harris, the film stars Augie Duke, Brionne Davis, Maria Olsen, Timothy Lee DePriest, Philip E. Walker, and Morgana Ignis.

Oscilloscope Laboratories will open the film this spring. Check out the trailer below.
