We already gave you a first look at Michel Gondry’s upc0ming documentary about his aunt, Suzette Gondry, called, “The Thorn In The Heart” (“L’epines Dans Le Couer”) which debuts at the Cannes Film Festival this weekend. And now QuietEarth [via FirstShowing] has many, many more.
Here’s the synopsis once again:
Suzette, Michel Gondry’s aunt, was a school teacher from 1952 to 1986 and she tells Michel how it was to be a teacher by then in a rural and isolated part of France. But little by little, Michel discovers some family stories he was totally unaware of and uses his camera to explore it in a subtle but very emotional way.
QuietEarth says,” ‘Thorn in the Heart’ looks to be much more of a personal journey for Gondry, retracing his roots through the story of his Aunt” and well, we can’t disagree. That’s pretty much what it looks like exactly. Frankly, after all of these flights of fancy, we’re looking forward to something a little bit more intimate from Gondry to at least show he’s more than just a one-trick pony. We hope this 80-minute doc, screening out of competition delivers the quiet and personal goods. Maybe we’ll see a trailer soon?
