Marketing cycles for movies, especially for big summer blockbusters, are usually planned long in advance, with clear stages and expectations. But in 2013 there are at least two big, upcoming movies that are yet to really show their faces. The biggest absence thus far is "The Hangover Part III" which hasn't even shown a teaser trailer or poster yet, despite being set for release in three months. And coming in second, with a date set for five months away, is "The Wolverine." But you expect more soon. A lot more…
A new image for the film arrived last night and while pictures from the movie are all we've been getting so far, director James Mangold promises you'll soon be inundated. Earlier this month on Twitter the helmer addressed nerds crying for more saying, "Tell me you think we're lame after you see the teaser. At least then you will be critiquing images from the film, not a marketing window."
"From end of March till release, you'll be saturated. Relax, yuk. I've never found the coolest people are the first to arrive at a party," he continued. "Take a deep breath. End of March." So hold fast, comic fans, as it looks like in just a few short weeks, your patience will be rewarded. And just in case you thought Mangold was just hanging out on social media, you can see a recent image of him hard at work editing the picture below.
"The Wolverine" arrives on July 26th. Update: it's not quite saturation yet, but Mangold has released a set-image on Twitter taken in Omishima, Japan.
