Update: Turns out these posters are fanmade, bummer.
With the summer movie season nearly upon us, marketing departments are on overdrive hoping to entice scores of moviegoers into forking over cold hard cash. To that end, Warner Bros. has released new posters for two of their comic-book-based summer tentpoles.
First up is a film that Zack Snyder is actually directing, a little movie called “Man of Steel.” We’re just several weeks out from the release date and the studio is taking the same measured approach they’ve utilized for the previous Christopher Nolan films. Why mess with a proven formula? Especially when you’re dealing with the granddaddy of all superheroes. At this point, if you’re not on board with it, chances are that a banner and a couple of magazine covers probably won’t change your mind.
Meanwhile, the first posters for “300: Rise of an Empire” have dropped. Overlapping the events of the Zack Snyder-helmed adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel “300,” the film is produced and co-written by the filmmaker and is directed by Noam Murro. The film features two of the first film’s cast members — Rodrigo Santoro and Lena Headey both reprise their roles as King Xerxes and the Queen of Sparta, respectively — in addition to the brand new cast that includes Eva Green, Sullivan Stapleton and Callan Mulvey. Though the new posters are in the vein of our least favorite trend in marketing today, character posters, we find it hard to complain when two of the posters feature the lovely Green.
“300: Rise of an Empire” hits theaters on August 2nd and “Man of Steel” swoops in on June 14th. Check out the posters below. [HenryCavillOrg/Recent Movie Posters/Empire/Reddit]
