Here is a new look at Kevin MacDonald’s “The Eagle Of The Ninth” featuring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell and, under all that make up, Tahar Rahim.
The film will cover the same historical era as Neil Marshall’s “Centurion” but instead of centering on the actual legend of the missing ninth Roman legion, MacDonald’s film focuses on the young centurion Marcus Aquila (Tatum) who goes about investigating the now twenty-year disappearance of the legion to restore the reputation of his father, who was the legion’s commander.
Mark Strong and Donald Sutherland also co-star alongside the aforementioned Bell and Rahim who will respectively play Aquilla’s slave and the leader of a Gallic band of warriors. Despite the overt political message installed by MacDonald, we’re still confident that the “The Last King Of Scotland” and “State Of Play” helmer can deliver.
Interestingly, Focus Features had previously announced that a teaser trailer for the film began screening in front of Tatum’s rom-com “Dear John.” Still, nearly two months later, the trailer has yet to find its way online.
“The Eagle Of The Ninth” hits theaters this September.
