The citizens of Panem only have to wait 37 days until the 75th annual Hunger Games begin. Translation: ‘Catching Fire,’ the sequel to “The Hunger Games” is right around the corner. Directed by Francis Lawrence this time (“Water for Elephants,” “I Am Legend”), the sequel brings back returning stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland along with new cast members Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin, Lynn Cohen, Jena Malone and more.
“I had never planned on doing a sequel to anything where there is an established world, but part of what I saw in Catching Fire was a large opportunity to create and not just have to go back,” he told Sci-fi magazine recently. “This story for me is where everything starts to take off.”
”It’s still really Katniss’ story—there are no diversions from her. I wanted to be true to the book, and I didn’t want to reinvent it in any way. It just needed an adaptation,” he continued in EW.
What are the new characters like? Well, Jena Malone’s character apparently has a nude scene. “We’re quite faithful to the adaptation,” Malone told Hitfix, acknowledging her characters onscreen nudity (though considering its PG-13, I doubt we’ll see much skin). Regardless, a new TV spot featuring Coldplay’s anthem “Atlas” has arrived, plus some new photos have dropped too. “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” catches fire on November 22nd. Check out the spot below.
