It has been five (far too long) years since Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost all got together and delivered the excellent "Hot Fuzz." But patience will be rewarded in 2013 when the trio reunite for the final film in their Cornetto Trilogy, and they're taking the world with them.
After a teaser poster this summer, a brand new one sheet has arrived courtesy of Empire and it promises, among other things, Total Annihilation. Awesome. This time around, the boys will find themselves on a pub crawl trying to relive past glories when an event takes place that essentially threatens everyone on the planet. "Melancholia" with more boozing and fish and chips? "E.T." with more cursing? Who knows — the exact details are being kept guarded — but here's the official synopsis to help you out:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
Pegg and Frost are joined by a pretty solid cast that includes Rosamund Pike, Martin Freeman and Eddie Marsan. Get ready — on October 25, 2013 pints will be filled.
