New Still From Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ Reveals That Michael Fassbender Has A Flashlight

nullIt's been a massive week for trailers and promos with "The Dark Knight Rises," "Wrath of the Titans" and "The Hobbit" all premiering their first looks to go with the big releases. But there's one big one still to come, as tomorrow will bring the online debut of the first teaser for "Prometheus," Ridley Scott's return to the sci-fi genre after nearly 30 years away, and a precursor/successor to his "Alien," although the extent to which hasn't yet been fully revealed.

A bootleg is floating around of the trailer, which will play in front as are various trailers-for-the-trailer, but to tide you over for the proper release on Apple tomorrow, Empire has just debuted a new image from the film from their brand new 2012 issue, which gives the best glimpse so far at Michael Fassbender's bleach-blonde character, who as the magazine says in their piece on the film, "may or may not be an early model of Ash's android [Ian Holm in the original], and may or may not be trustworthy." It doesn't reveal much more about his surrondings, other than that he can see them better with his trusty flashlight.

Scott's still keeping things wrapped up tightly on the project; most of what he tells Empire in the new issue (on newsstands now) is along the same lines as what we've heard before, saying " 'Alien' felt epic, but this one is epic,' while saying of the project's genesis "I felt there was still life in the old sod, but it has evolved into something else. To stick to the story, you don't really get it until about eight minutes from the end." But there are some revelations about some of the other characters, with Scott hinting that Charlize Theron's character works for the Weyland-Yutani corporation from the original, while commenting on the central couple played by Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Smith that "One comes from a position of faith, and the other is a pure scientist."

"Prometheus" also stars Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall and Sean Harris, and will hit theaters on June 8th.
