New Trailer For 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Season 9 [Watch]

With “Twin Peaks” and “Game Of Thrones” out of the way, you could be forgiven that there are no major TV events to come in 2017. You’d be wrong, for one (read here for our complete guide to the Fall TV to come), but undoubtedly the biggest deal on the small screen in the next few months for many will be the long-awaited return of Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

The pioneering HBO comedy, which began long before the current Peak TV wave, much of which was influenced by it, has been away for over six years now, with the eighth season, following Larry’s divorce from Cheryl, airing in the summer of 2011. But everyone’s favorite cantankerous “Seinfeld” creator has returned at a time when we’ve never needed him more, and last night’s premiere of HBO’s “The Deuce” brought a new trailer for the upcoming Season 9.

It looks to be, in the best possible way, unchanged from the glory days, with Larry once again finding everyday life a parade of annoyances, minor etiquette breaches and conflict with strangers (we bark-laughed at him pushing over the perfume sampler).

And alongside the returning cast members — Ed Begley Jr, J.B. Smoove, Jeff Garlin and Richard Lewis can all be glimpsed here, and we assume Cheryl Hines and Susie Essman will be involved in some way — we also get hints at some of the big-name guest stars, with Carrie Brownstein and, as Larry’s new psychiatrist, Bryan Cranston both seen here.

“Curb” was one of those shows that you didn’t quite realize how much you’d miss it until it was gone, and while David’s turn as Bernie Sanders on SNL helped fill the gap, it’s hugely exciting to have the real deal back. The show’s now only a few weeks away — it’ll return to HBO on October 1st, and you can watch the trailer below to raise your excitement level even further.
