A new trailer for Rodrigo Cortes’ Ryan Reynolds-led one man show in “Buried” has been released but somewhat disappointingly shows no footage, instead opting to only feature stills and audio from the pic.
It’s sort of understandable though as the claustrophobic thriller is reportedly set predominantly in a coffin and follows an American civilian contractor who has been buried alive and held for ransom with only a handful of items including phone, a lighter and a knife to conjure a way out.
How would you make a trailer for that? Two clips have already been unveiled from the film and, if it in fact lives up to its reputation, probably already shows too much — we’re pretty much expecting 80 minutes of Reynolds in the situation Uma Thurman’s Bride found herself in the “Kill Bill” sequel.
The film premiered at Sundance earlier this year earning mainly positive reviews with particular praise for Reynolds’ performance and “A Single Man” DP Eduard Grau’s cinematography. “Buried” opens September 24th in limited release and wide release on October 8th.
