Comedian Norm Macdonald Signs With Netflix For 10-Episode Talk Show

First, it was Chelsea Handler, then David Letterman, and now it appears that Norm Macdonald is getting his very own Netflix talk show.

Announced by Macdonald himself via Twitter, the series, titled “Norm Macdonald Has a Show,” got a 10-episode order from the streaming service. ‘Has a Show’ will be a talk show, with Norm being joined by a celebrity guest, along with sidekick Adam Eget, and will feature great and unexpected conversation, jokes and a behind-the-scenes look at Norm’s world.

Norm Macdonald will be extra hands-on with this series, serving not only as host, but also as executive producer and co-showrunner, alongside Lori Jo Hoekstra. Hoekstra is a long-time collaborator with Macdonald, producing almost everything the comedian has down dating back almost 20 years.

In an interesting turn of events, Netflix has announced that David Letterman, yes that David Letterman, will serve as a location scout for the series.

Macdonald is perhaps best known for his work on “Saturday Night Live,” where he served as Weekend Update host for several years in the ‘90s, and also gave one of the best Burt Reynolds impersonations you’ll ever see. After his stint on SNL, he showed up from time to time in films, most notably the “Doctor Doolittle” series and the various works of Adam Sandler. However, since 2013, he’s been the host of a podcast called “Norm Macdonald Live,” which looks to be the clear inspiration for this new talk show.

The series was announced by the comedian, who shared a text conversation between himself and Netflix exec Ted Sarandos. In the conversation, Sarandos texts Macdonald asking if he’d like to host his own talk show on Netflix. Norm accepts. Yep, that’s it.

If that sort of humor makes you giggle, then you should definitely check out the show when it premieres…sometime in the future.
