Hold the phone. Yesterday, Variety reported that “Transformers 3” would be appearing on July 1, 2011 and the geek-o-sphere cheered and celebrated. But according to Michael Bay on his message board, Paramount fucked up the announcement and said you’ll all have to wait an additional year.
“I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 – they asked me on the phone – I said yes to July 4 – but for 2012 – whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.”
So even Michael Bay needs a break from blowing shit up, duly noted. Some have speculated that another director could be tapped to helm the film, but that would seem doubtful to us. [via Cinematical]
