Today marked the finale of “The Book of Boba Fett,” and we now have official confirmation that “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is going to be the next big “Star Wars” event series. Scottish actor Ewan McGregor returns to reprise the role of the iconic Jedi with a story that takes place between years after “Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith” and many before “Star Wars: A New Hope.”
Disney+ and Lucasfilm have officially announced the show will begin airing on May 25, a fitting month given that May 4 is Star Wars Day, and the month should be filled with promotional materials for various “Star Wars”-related projects. Fans will have to wait a bit longer for some footage or a trailer though.

They also included a teaser poster with McGregor as the hermit Ben Kenobi, a former Jedi Knight that is hiding from the Empire on Tatooine as he protects Darth Vader’s long-lost son Luke Skywalker from a horrible fate if he were ever to be discovered by either the Empire or the Sith.
Deborah Chow (“The Mandalorian”) directs a cast that includes Hayden Christensen returning as Darth Vader, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.
The show’s logline from the Star Wars website: “The story begins ten years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, in which Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat — the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side and became the evil Sith Lord, Darth Vader.”
The following “Star Wars” series expected to get a release date is “Andor,” a “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” prequel starring Diego Luna as the Rebellion spy, Cassian Andor.
