‘One Battle After Another’ Teaser: The First Trailer For Paul Thomas Anderson’s Next Film Premieres Next Week

Yesterday saw Warner Bros. make some big shifts to their 2025 and 2026 theatrical release calendars.  Paul Thomas Anderson‘s “One Battle After Another” (now its official title) moved from August 8 to September 26 this year , Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s “The Bride!” got pushed to March 6, 2026, and Zach Cregger‘s “Weapons” moved up to the now-vacant August 8 slot.

And on the heels of those changes comes the first look at Anderon’s next film. Granted, it’s only a 20s teaser for the official trailer drop next week, but it’s for one of 2025’s most anticipated titles (and Anderson’s first film since 2021’s “Licorice Pizza.”). But be forewarned, there’s not a lot to glean from the new teaser.  There’s some close-ups of a long-haired Leonardo DiCaprio, and a lot of gunfire, with DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, and newcomer Chase Infinite all bearing arms in the brief clip, and some vague family drama afoot, but that’s about it.

For those familiar with Thomas Pynchon‘s “Vineland,” the novel Anderon adapts for his latest, then those notes shouldn’t come as a surprise.  DiCaprio is obviously playing a character similar to “Vineland” protagonist Zoyd Wheeler, whose estranged family life and the future and safety of his teen daughter Prairie drive the narrative. But the new teaser is too short of a sneak peek to gauge what to really expect from “One Battle After Another.” That’ll come next week, when the film’s first trailer drops, and that’ll likely give audiences their first look at other cast members, like Benicio del Toro and central baddie Sean Penn.

“One Day After Another” also stars Regina Hall, Alana Haim, and Shayne McHayle (otherwise known by her rap name Junglepussy).

With its new September 26 theatrical release date, it’s safe to predict that Anderson’s new film will have its world premiere at a Fall film festival, like Venice, Telluride, or TIFF. And possibly all three, considering this film has an $140 million price tag and hits IMAX screens, too. Warner Bros. will want as much buzz as possible surrounding “One Battle After Another” by the time it reaches audiences.

Take a look at the new teaser for “One Battle After Another” below. And be on the look out for its first trailer, which debuts sometime next week.
