Got a Tip?

‘Out Of The Furnace’ With Christian Bale & Casey Affleck Jumps Into Oscar Season With November 27th Limited Release

Christian Bale“It turned out great, it will not disappoint you. Whoo, it’s powerful, it’s great, It’s not a joyful movie, but it’s a very intense movie.”  Ok, so Woody Harrelson has already seenOut Of The Furnace,” and now we’re doubly stoked for it. So wait, for those that may not know, what is it exactly? “Out Of The Furnace” is an upcoming American revenge thriller directed by Scott Cooper and it features an awesome cast that includes Christian Bale, Forest Whitaker, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard and Willem Dafoe. Composer Dickon Hinchliffe (“Winter’s Bone“) is leading the score and Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder is writing an original tune for the movie. Clearly there’s a lot of talent involved.

Originally dated for October 4th, Relativity Media has just announced they have bumped the movie into the heart of Oscar season: November 27 in limited release with a continued expansion on December 6th.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Russell (Christian Bale) and his younger brother Rodney (Affleck) are living in the economically-depressed Rust Belt and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives. When a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, Rodney is lured into one of the most violent crime rings in the Northeast – a mistake that will almost cost him everything. Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or risk it all to seek justice for his brother.

Not even one picture from the movie has been released yet, but maybe that’s why the anticipation for it keeps building. While director Scott Cooper only has the strong hard luck romance “Crazy Heart” under his belt, he’s clearly impressed a lot of people and is working on projects with Leonardo DiCaprio (his Appian Way also co-produced ‘Furnace’), and even picked up an old Noah Baumbach project. Someone release some photos or a teaser trailer soon? Pretty please? The wait for ‘Furnace’ will be even longer now, but if Relativity is feeling this confident about the movie, there’s a strong chance we could see it sooner at one of the various film festivals in the fall.
