Patty Jenkins Teases Setting For ‘Wonder Woman’ Sequel, Reveals One Scene That Needed To Be Reshot

Now that “Wonder Woman” is a smash hit, it’s only a matter of time until Warner Bros. figures out what their sequel plans are. Given how many projects they have in development at the moment, who knows when that followup will arrive, but given the adoration from critics and audiences, it’s probably a safe bet it’ll be prioritized over something like “Cyborg.” And when those sequel talks begin, director Patty Jenkins knows exactly where she’ll take Diana next.

“The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right,” she told EW. “She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.”

However, she won’t make the leap to the modern day just yet, with filmmaker suggested something more in the arena of the 1930s is likely. “It is for sure – I’m definitely planning something more interesting using that period of time. Definitely, it’s the plan. I can’t say what it is! But it’s definitely right in the pocket of what you’re talking about,” she told Uproxx.

But before we get too ahead of ourselves, there’s still plenty to celebrate with “Wonder Woman,” including the fact that unlike most blockbusters these days, it needed minimal reshoots. In fact, according to Jenkins, only one scene needed to be reshot, a sequence where Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor are walking through the frontlines of World War I.

“I wanted to ramp that tension as much as possible, and unfortunately, we didn’t have it,” Jenkins told THR. “That scene was just a slightly tense scene of them walking. I was like ‘I need her to see some brutality.’ So, we added her seeing the horses being whipped. It was actually something that had been in the script originally.” Impressive stuff.

“Wonder Woman” is now playing everywhere, and you might want to arrive early, as it looks like everybody is going out to see this one.
