Pedro Pascal, David Harbour To Star In HBO Limited Series 'My Dentist's Murder Trial'

Pedro Pascal and David Harbour are TV mainstays in their respective right. Pascal’s third season as the star of the hit Disney+ show “The Mandalorian” premieres early next year. Meanwhile, Harbour still serves Hawkins Sheriff Jim Hopper on Netflix‘s “Stranger Things,” fresh off a fourth season of its own. Now, the pair link up for a new limited series at HBO that recounts a strange but real true-crime tale.

Variety reports that Pascal and Harbour will co-star in the upcoming miniseries “My Dentist’s Murder Trial.” Based on James Lasdun‘s New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, And A Lethal Sedation,” the show tells the true story of how Dr. Gilberto Nunez was indicted in 2015 of his friend, Thomas Kolman.

Wonder” and “The Pursuit Of Happyness” screenwriter Steve Conrad writes the series and directs the pilot. No word on who else will direct the show just yet, but Conrad will co-executive produce with Pascal and Harbour, as well as Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Taylor Lasham, and Steve Tisch of Escape ArtistsMGM Television is also on board, with Bruce Terris, Molly Allen, and James Lasdum co-executive producing under their banner.

“My Dentist’s Murder Trial” marks yet another HBO show Pedro Pascal will star in. His breakout role as Oberyn Martell on the fourth season of “Game Of Thrones” made him a household name virtually overnight. He also stars as Joel in HBO’s upcoming adaptation of the videogame “The Last Of Us.” Pascal also made a splash on Netflix on the cast of “Narcos.”

Harbour has received two Emmy nominations for his performance on “Stranger Things,” which has its fifth and final season on the way. He’s starred in other TV shows over the years, though, including “Q Force,” “Manhattan,” and “Rake.” And while Harbour hasn’t worked under HBO yet, Variety reported last year that Steve Conrad is attached to write one of the several “Game Of Thrones” spin-offs in development, “Tales Of Dunk & Egg.”

“My Dentist’s Murder Trial” brings two of contemporary TV’s biggest stars together for an HBO miniseries, and those are almost always can’t miss TV. So, what’s not to love about this upcoming show? Don’t expect it on HBO until the end of 2024 at the earliest, though.
