Got a Tip?

Penélope Cruz Reteams With Sergio Castellitto In ‘Venuto al Mondo’

Man, how did we miss this? The news hit the web last week but somehow, we’re only catching up with it now so apologies if you’re already aware.

Anyway, 24 Frames reveals that Penélope Cruz is set to re-team with actor/director Sergio Castellitto for his next effort behind the camera, “Venuto al Mondo.” The pair last worked together a decade ago on “Don’t Move,” a grim romantic drama about a torrid affair between a doctor and a slum-dwelling woman, and their latest will be no less cheery. Based on a best-selling novel by Margaret Mazzantini, Cruz will “play a single mother who brings her teenage son to Sarajevo, where the boy’s father died during the Balkan War.”

There’s no word just when this roll in front of cameras — Cruz is taking a role in Woody Allen‘s “The Wrong Picture” this summer — but the actress says it’s a “priority” and she plans to make it her next film. Cruz can next been seen trading one liners with Johnny Depp in “Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” which will make a splash at Cannes next month before hitting theaters on May 20th.
