Fox Searchlight is asking fans to vote, which, “500 Days Of Summer” poster do you like best?
Frankly, none of them sell the movie that well, but we’d say from a design perspective, the one on the far right is the real winner.
An “anti romantic comedy” directed by music video maker Marc Webb (Weezer, Snow Patrol, Green Day), and his videos for AFI’s “Miss Murder” and All-American Rejects‘ “Move Along” respectively won best rock video and best group video at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. ‘Days of Summer’ stars Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon Levitt, plus Minka Kelly (“2 Fast 2 Furious”) and Clark Gregg (“Choke”) and will feature some offbeat musical dance numbers as well. The film will feature a Hall & Oates sing-along and a parade of dancers. According to an MTV interview with Gordon-Levitt earlier this year, ‘500 Days’ sounds like it will have plenty of use for pop music.
“He’s a hopeless romantic, a lovesick young man who falls in love with [Zooey’s character] Summer, and he gets dumped,” the actor said of the plot. “The thing is, the movie is all from the point of view of this guy, and this guy has watched way too many movies and listened to far too many pop songs. So his life becomes a pop song.”
Apparently the film will take its cues from “Annie Hall” and “High Fidelity.” A new modern classic or another typical romcom? ‘500 Days’ was originally sheduled for 2008, but surely it won’t be coming out until sometime in 2009 now. May we suggest the late Spring/early summer before the blockbuster season.
