After wowing us at TIFF last fall with its “shades of classic Italian melodrama put through the lens of a distinctly American film,” director Derek Cianfrance‘s “The Place Beyond the Pines” slowly nears closer to its much-anticipated release, and now you can get a look at what that description may sound like musically.
The Ryan Gosling-led drama, following a motorcycle stunt rider who turns to robbing banks in order to support his son, features a score by Mike Patton, and its rounded out by joins cuts from Arvo Part, Ennio Morricone, and Bon Iver. But that’s not all. Patton’s work on “The Solitude Of Prime Numbers” also features in the film as well.
A full list of every song in ‘Pines’ lies below (which includes cuts by Bruce Springsteen, Suicide and more), along with some select samples from the soundtrack (released digitally March 26th, and physically on April 9th). As for the film, which also stars Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne, and Ray Liotta, it hits theaters March 29th, at which point you can judge whether it or “Rust and Bone” used Bon Iver more effectively.
