‘Puss In Boots: The Last Wish’ Trailer: Antonio Banderas & Salma Hayek Star In An Animated ‘Shrek’ Spinoff

Puss in Boots returns for another thrilling adventure in Dreamworks Animation’s “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.” This time, the feline hero is facing more than the standard fairytale villain as he grapples with mortality itself. Puss is on the last of those storied nine lives, and it’s going to take a few well-meaning friends to recover them.

Antonio Banderas is back as the fabled champion. The film’s leading character is far from alone; much of the drama comes from collaborating with Kitty Soft Paws. Salma Hayek voices Paws — the mysterious enemy and former partner of Puss. Banderas and Hayek have starred together in several notable projects, including Robert Rodriguez’s memorable action thriller “Desperado.” ‘Wish’ also features Harvey Guillén from “What We Do in the Shadows” and “Midsommar” actress Florence Pugh.

The film’s official synopsis:

Academy Award nominee Antonio Banderas returns as the voice of the notorious PiB as he embarks on an epic journey into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star and restore his lost lives. But with only one life left, Puss will have to humble himself and ask for help from his former partner and nemesis: the captivating Kitty Soft Paws (Oscar nominee Salma Hayek).

In their quest, Puss and Kitty will be aided—against their better judgment—by a ratty, chatty, relentlessly cheerful mutt, Perro (Harvey Guillén, What We Do in the Shadows). Together, our trio of heroes will have to stay one step ahead of Goldilocks (Oscar® nominee Florence Pugh, Black Widow) and the Three Bears Crime Family, “Big” Jack Horner (Emmy winner John Mulaney, Big Mouth) and terrifying bounty hunter, The Big Bad Wolf (Wagner Moura, Narcos).

A legendary character creates a new story for himself with “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.” The film opens only in theaters September 23. Get your first look at the new trailer below.
