While it didn’t break box office records or anything during its 2019 release, “Ready or Not” did serve as the breakout film for both lead actress Samara Weaving and filmmakers Radio Silence. It was a Searchlight film that definitely turned a tidy profit, and it was generally loved by critics and audience members alike. All that to say, it’s no surprise that a sequel is on its way.

At a recent event where they screened “Ready or Not” (via Deadline), the filmmaking trio known as Radio Silence (aka Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella) announced that a sequel to their 2019 film is in the works and definitely happening. This comes after years of teasing its existence.
For those who don’t know, “Ready or Not” stars Weaving as a new bride who visits her husband’s wealthy family. There, she learns about a tradition they have where they play a variation of hide and seek. A deadly variation. So, she has to fight against them all to survive. It’s a somewhat silly premise that is handled beautifully by all involved.
Weaving has gone on to star in a number of high-profile films, such as “Bill & Ted Face the Music,” “Babylon,” and “Snake Eyes.” She even reteamed with Radio Silence for a small role in “Scream VI.”
Radio Silence would go on to direct two “Scream” films, which would both be massive box office hits. Their most recent film was the horror feature, “Abigail,” which followed a group of criminals who kidnap a young female vampire.
It’s unclear when we might see “Ready or Not” arrive in theaters. No date has been set for production to begin, either.
