Randoms: 'About A Son' Score, 'Style Wars' Director RIP, Common Is The Lantern

Can’t get enough of Kurt Cobain and the interview documentary, “About A Son” that’s coming out on DVD on February 19? Barsuk records has already released the soundtrack (which we rather enjoyed), and now they’re going to release an album of the original score which was composed by Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and grunge-era producer/musician Steve Fisk. Despite Gibbard’s tendency to make vagina-like ultra wussy music, the ‘Son’ score is actually pretty great. “Plaintive [and] ambient,” we called it. It’s quite nice. It too comes out Feb 19 digitally. Is that fucking synergistic teamwork or what? [Pitchfork]

Tony Silver, the director of the graffiti film, “Style Wars” died of brain cancer this weekend. RIP. [DailySwarm]

Remember that super-hurried and rushed “Justice League” movie that got impulsively greenlit because studio heads wanted to have films banked and ready to go in case the writers’ strike went on too long? You’ll also remember the film the ground to a halt and the film was put on “indefinite hold,” most likely because they realized the idea was a regrettably terrible one. Well, rapper Common has confirmed the rumors the was cast as the super hero, Green Lantern. He’s excited. Too bad this film’s never going to get made now that the strike is essentially over and cooler heads have prevailed. Hopefully he got paid up front. [MTV]
