Film fans have been anxiously awaiting news on filmmaker Julia Ducournau’s next feature for years now. Her previous film, “Raw,” has already become a horror classic after winning the coveted FIPRESCI prize at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. However, since then, we haven’t heard a peep about what Ducournau has in store for her follow-up.

Now, thanks to NEON, we know that the filmmaker is working on a new film titled “Titane.” The plot and cast are currently kept under wraps, but what we do know is that Ducournau is writing and directing the feature with Jean Christophe Reymond on board as a producer. Of course, we also know that NEON is going to be the North American distribution partner for the film.
“‘Raw’ was one of the most earth-shattering debut films in recent memory and we’ve been waiting for Julia’s next film ever since,” said NEON in a statement.
If you’re unfamiliar with Ducournau’s work, then you should definitely add “Raw” to your must-see list. That film took the classic coming-of-age story and flipped it on its head, as a young female veterinary student tastes meat for the first time after years as a vegetarian. And from then on, her craving for flesh goes out of control. Not only is it a quality horror/thriller film, but is one of the very best of that year and one of the best feature debuts in recent memory.
Needless to say, the fact that the filmmaker is preparing to begin work on her follow-up is great news. And that news is extra sweet for film fans in North America, knowing that the French film already has distribution lined up. No release date has been set for “Titane,” but we’ll definitely keep you updated as news comes in.
