Judging by his recent output, it appears that Ridley Scott is definitely not slowing down as he gets older. In fact, he might actually be speeding up. Not only is he averaging a new film per year, it seems as if in 2025, he’s going to go into production on two separate films.
In a new interview with GQ, Ridley Scott confirms that the plan, as of now, is to go into production on two films in 2025. While he doesn’t confirm which films this includes, it’s most likely “The Dog Stars” and his Bee Gees biopic, “You Should Be Dancing.”

“We might do two movies,” said Scott. “One in April and start the next one in September.”
The April film is expected to be “The Dog Stars.” That’s a post-apocalyptic film that is set to star Jacob Elordi in the lead role. Originally, it was set to star Paul Mescal, but the actor’s schedule is incredibly busy at the moment thanks to the four Beatles biopics that Sam Mendes is working on. In those films, Mescal is expected to play Paul McCartney. Regardless, because of Scott’s ambitious 2025 schedule, he’s moving on without Mescal.
As for the September film, that’s the long-in-development Bee Gees biopic, “You Should Be Dancing.” Not much is known about this film yet, but Scott has talked about wanting it to get going in 2025.
As mentioned, Ridley Scott has really accelerated his production schedule in this later part of his career. SInce 2012, he’s released 10 separate films, including two films in 2021 and 2017. He’s not shy about explaining how he is able to work at such a pace. He uses a multi-cam approach to filmmaking now. That means he can get all the coverage he wants in far less time than a filmmaker who is consistently only using one camera. That allows him to make a film like “Gladiator II” in a shorter timeframe than most.
We still don’t know when we might see “The Dog Stars” and “You Should Be Dancing” arrive in theaters. Most likely, the schedule would dictate that both films would arrive in 2026. But we’ll just have to wait and see.
