Though the series ultimately sputtered out (putting it mildly) with critics and fans, Michael Bay’s “Transformers” franchise is a massive moneymaker. Thankfully, 2018’s “Bumblebee” seems to have righted the transforming robot ship a bit. But all eyes are on “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” to see if Paramount’s franchise can recover and be better than ever. One thing is for sure, the studio is hiring some big names for the voice cast.

According to an Instagram post from director Steven Caple, Jr., Michelle Yeoh and Pete Davidson are the latest actors to join the cast for “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.” Both actors are set to voice giant robots in the film, with Yeoh playing Airazor and Davidson portraying the classic Autobot, Mirage. ‘Rise of the Beasts’ serves as a sequel to “Bumblebee” and picks up in 1994 where the battle between robot clans erupts on Earth as the Autobots discover other factions such as the Maximals (who transform into animals) and the Terrorcons (obviously, the bad guys).
The filmmaker shared videos of both actors in recording booths, but he didn’t give us a hint as to how their voices will sound in the film. Judging by previous “Transformers” films, you have to assume the actors will largely just give their own voice and won’t try to do anything too wild.
The live-action cast of ‘Rise of the Beasts’ is led by Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback. The film is in post-production now and will be released in theaters on June 9, 2023.
