Got a Tip?

Robert Redford & Diane Keaton To Star In ‘The Most Wonderful Time’ Yet Another Ensemble Holiday Movie

It’s hard to belive that despite all the illustrious leading men Diane Keaton has starred with in the course of her career — Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, Woody Allen, Robert De Niro, Warren Beatty — she somehow never crossed paths with Robert Redford. And while it’s kind of exciting they are finally pairing up, it’s too bad that it will be in service of such an uninspired project.

But alas, the two will be jumping into the multiple narrative, ensemble, holiday-themed movie genre with the creatively titled “The Most Wonderful Time.” Penned by Steven Rogers (“Hope Floats,” “P.S. I Love You,” “Kate & Leopold“) and set to be directed by Jessie Nelson (“I Am Sam,” “Corrina Corrina“) — all those previous credits should give you pause — the plot details are being kept under wraps but it’s said to be in the vein of “Amelie” (big ambitions), focusing “on the chaos of a family around Christmastime.” How daringly original.

We’re not sure what lured the usually very picky Redford to the project, except maybe a big payday, but Keaton isn’t above slumming it from time to time (please see “Mad Money“). Once Relativity closes the deal for the script, they will start seeking out the rest of the cast and then we’ll be able to better ascertain what kind of movie we’re in for. [Deadline]
