How do you replace a presence like Tom Hardy in "Suicide Squad"? Well, it’s not easy. Jake Gyllenhaal has already turned down the role of Rick Flagg in the superhero flick, but a couple more options are surfacing as contenders.
According to Cinema Blend, Joel Edgerton and Jon Bernthal are being considered, and those aren’t bad choices. The former is a fine actor, and can certainly carry his own among bigger stars (on the way to becoming one himself), while the latter can also command the screen, and did a pretty good job last fall of bringing some grit to David Ayer‘s "Fury." If his name is in the mix, then clearly he and Ayer got on well. But who will land the part? Who knows. We’d wager these won’t be the last names we hear floated for the part.
Meanwhile, it turns out reports of Gary Sinise playing General Eiling weren’t quite one hundred percent correct. He is in "Suicide Squad," but his role isn’t known. Meanwhile, Joe Manganiello is apparently being looked to play Deathstroke.
Whew! Thoughts? Let us know below. "Suicide Squad" arrives on August 5, 2016.
